Formerly the Eskdale vicarage, this property has been lovingly and painstakingly restored and expanded to allow our guests to enjoy a truly unique Lake District holiday full of character and history. Far enough to truly enjoy peace and tranquillity but close enough to enjoy the local area, The Old Vicarage is perfect for groups of all types.

The Home

Eskdale Retreat offers a cool mix of high-end comfort and laid-back style, bringing together traditional Lakeland vibes with a touch of modern Scandi flair. The open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area features a double-sided log burner and massive glass bi-fold doors that give you stunning views of our meadow, the River Esk, and the backdrop of the Lakeland fells.

There’s plenty to keep everyone entertained: a big TV/cinema room, a cosy library nook, a spacious hot tub, and even a boot room with heated warmers for your outdoor gear. If you're into cycling, we’ve got you covered with secure storage for up to 16 bikes and a dedicated bike wash station.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to whip up a feast after a day exploring the fells. But if cooking’s not your thing, you’re in luck—there are two local pubs within walking distance, plus a couple more just a short ride away. For something extra special, we can connect you with an amazing private chef who’ll take care of dinner at home.

We can comfortably host up to 16 guests across six luxury ensuite bedrooms in the main house, plus two more in the adjacent coach house. Seven of the rooms feature super king beds—four of which can be converted into singles—while a couple of rooms come with unique features like a copper bathtub or built-in bunk beds that are just as much fun for adults as they are for kids.

From our front door, you can head out to explore some of the most breathtaking and peaceful parts of the western Lake District. This isn’t the bustling centre of the Lakes; it’s a tranquil spot to unwind, connect with nature, and enjoy good times with family and friends. Perfect for those who want to escape the everyday grind and enjoy a bit of adventure, laughter, and relaxation.

Sleeping Arrangements

In the main property there are 6 large spacious bedrooms which are all en-suite, with 2 of the bedrooms having a bath in their en-suite. Five of these six bedrooms have super king size beds, all of which are zip-link and can be divided into two singles. The sixth bedroom in the main house has a fabulous built-in bunk bed with two single beds.
